[Solved] Bugs with the dialog box "updating external links"

Post by Taren »

Hello there,

I have an issue with that now famous dialog box asking to update links to other spreadsheets. I made the change in the options to always update the links, but it keeps asking me if I want to update or not. :(
I have this issue since 4.1.4 version of OpenOffice, I saw many topics to report that issue but here we are on 4.1.6 and nothing is done.

So, and I ask the developpers and I don't want to be mean here, but what are you waiting for ? If I'm forced to return 3 version back, better found another office suite, don't you think ? :)

Sorry if there was an announcement to tell when it will be fixed, I didn't found the information.
Thank you for me reading me, and sorry for the faults I could made, english is not my primary language.

Install https://libreoffice.org/ and everything will be fine again.

I'm going to try it asap, but is there a reason a member of the OpenOffice Forum tell me "install someone else software" ?
Sounds like to me AOO is a bit ... dead or something ? :?

Once again, I don't want to be mean saying that, but it's a bit odd. :)

Thank you anyway for your answer ;)

Because development and bug fixing of AOO is slower than that of LibreOffice, and the issue you refer to has been resolved in LibO?

If there is other software that will do what you want, there is no reason for us not to suggest you use it. If we got a commission on AOO downloads, however it might be a different story :-)

8 years ago LibreOffice 3.3 forked from OpenOffice.org 3.3. Both 3.3 versions were identical.
During these years LibreOffice was actively developed while OpenOffice died.
Since 4 years at least, it is clear that LibreOffice is the legitimate successor of OpenOffice.

In my mind, it was like going to my Volkswagen dealer for a fix, and get as an answer "It doesn't work here, try an Opel or a Ford" :p

I guess I'm gonna solved this thread, then :)

If Volkswagen was free and open source then that might happen.

If that Seat does not have the feature you need, the latest Volkswagen has it. Go and download the modern variant with the VW label.
In this case, the entire Seat brand is running out of business.
