Damaged .ods file

Post by OPenOffice 1 »

Is there anyone here that can help recover a file? I tried to change the .ods file to zip and open with winrar without any luck.

At the risk of sounding like a cracked record by repeating myself:

If you upload the file, someone will see if it can be recovered. [Forum] How to attach a document here Note maximum file size is 128K. If your file is larger, use a file sharing site such as Mediafire and post the link here. Describe the issue you have with the document - in case it is not the same as others in this topic.

I've split your question to a new topic as your file claims to be a Calc file, not a Writer file.

That said, the file isn't (any longer) a valid Calc file; it cannot be opened as a zip file and my repair tools fail to fix it. Your first option would be to use your backup file - you don't have one? Then see [Tutorial] How to find and un-delete AOO temporary files for some hints on trying to recover something.

I'd suggest you consider installing, and using, the Time stamped backup extension to maintain a number of backups of your documents.
