Post by Neisner »

I was working on a rather large spread sheet, when the computer shut down due to lack of power. when I was able to restart the computer, I was unable to open the spread sheet, and icon on the desktop was changed. I am frustrater beyond words. file size is 155k. Thanks
I am using open office 4.1.6 and Windows 10

What happens when you try to open the spreadsheet? "I was unable to open the spread sheet" doesn't really tell us much.
"icon on the desktop was changed" - from what to what? Is this icon the application icon for OpenOffice, a document created by OpenOffice, or something else?

When I go to open the file, it goes to a text import screen, unicode, language - default, english.

It tells me that it's a read only file

the new icon appears to be a new, revised open office icon

The likelihood is that your file is totally corrupted. See [Tutorial] How to find and un-delete AOO temporary files for advice on ways to try and recover files.

Please upload the file showing the problem so that it can be analysed. Use the Upload attachment tab below where you type (128 kB max); or use a file share site, Dropbox or Google Drive for a larger file.
