Chart question X axis w/ actual date spacing

Post by RA1 »

I need to make a chart with the X axis as date, but the dates are irregularly spaced (3 months spacing, then 1 month spacing).

I need the dates spaced according actual date values on the chart, not just one after the other. They are in the right date number format for Calc.

I've tried line charts, xy scatter, and it always gives bad results.

Thanks

I finally realized the problem. I had downloaded data from what should be a reliable source. The (x axis) dates went from 1988 to 2018, but around the middle of the date span, were two date entries for months in 1955, even though the associated data was correct. The chart software couldn't make a sensible date span chart with those junk dates in there.

Thanks for the replies.

The most likely cause of the probem is that your dates are text actually.
