All info LOST

Post by Robi6942 »

PLEASE HELP
There was a power outage at my home so my PC didn't shut down correctly. When I opened one of my spreadsheets afterwards I got a pop-up box about Text Import - Character Set; Seperator OPtions etc.
I don't know what to do - I tried using Unicode, and the spreadsheet was COMPLETELY BLANK

Is there a way I can retrieve the data? - I know 0 about things like that

Look at this tutorial for methods of recovering files. It works also for Calc files as well as Writer files.

Upload the file here or send it to me - I have sent you my email ID.

If the file is corrupted beyond repair then, as Rory says, your only hope is to see [Tutorial] How to find and un-delete Writer temporary files for
a) detailed instructions on how to recover your file as it was when you last opened or saved it, or as it was when it was last saved with AutoRecovery.
b) how to find previous versions of the file in the folder it is located in, but which have since been deleted.
c) how to un-delete the temporary files Writer wrote while you were editing the file, and then deleted. This will recover your file as it was when you last opened or you last saved it and is probably your best hope.

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
