How to paste text with formatting?

Post by Astralogic »

Hi, could someone tell me how to paste text into calc that will include the formatting. The text is copied from a website, it is structured like a database (in MSO I can paste it fine and keep the formatting).

I assume there's a simple way to achieve this?

Thanks

Edit: I notice when pasting in Writer the formatting is kept without issues.

It is not a good idea to pasting formatted contents from a foreign source. Missing fonts, unsupported formatting properties... and there are more possible issues...

Paste contents as unformatted text, and then use the most valuable feature of the AOO and LO: the Styles.

OK, thanks.

Is there a way to copy the formatting (text color and background color) from one cell to another?

Yes. You can copy the Cell Style and the manual (direct) formatting properties too.

...Or simply apply the desired Cell Style to the target cells.
