[Solved] Graph numbers appearing

Post by Butch83 »

As you can see the number 208 appears twice, inside the graph frame. I do not know how it got there or how to remove them. Are there any ideas or suggestions on how to remove them?

Please upload your real ODF sample file here.

We can't tell from an image what is causing that. Please upload an actual spreadsheet file that shows the problem.

That's a very strange error. I suppose it was caused by an inadvertent interaction during the creation or during some editing. The annoying texts aren't created by the chart's algorithms, but seem to be text content of the chart wall itself. Under normal circumstances that shape cannot be edited directly, I think.

By the way: Was that sheet originally created with AOO or was it once converted from a file in an alien format?

If I recreated the chart with the unchanged DataRange the error did not occur.

(If I get a hunch or find out more, I will post again.)

The two numbers are not part of the chart but are attached to the chart object. This is why they disappear when the chart is activated. They may have gotten there by pasting data unintentionally onto the object rather than onto the sheet.

To remove the text, select the chart object (one click on it—don't double-click), press F2 to edit the object's text, press backspace to delete the numerals. Click outside the object to complete the edit.

This is an original AOO but has been in use for about 9 years.
I am using a Mac computer so pressing F2 doesn't work. Clicking edit, on a right click, is the same as double-clicking, so I can't approach the problem from that direction either.
In the past, I have deleted the file and started again but that requires a lot of data re-entry.

I see no "208" numbers in the cutdown version when I open it on my Mac.

F2 works for me. See [Tutorial] Mac FAQ, Q10/A10

PERFECT!
Thank you, MrProgrammer!!
I needed to get the F2 to function and that made the corrections possible.
