[Solved] Changing lower case to upper case in single column

I am trying to find a way to change text from lower case to upper case as I type in any cell a single column in calc. I am running Version 4.1.4 of OpenOffice on Windows 10. From what I have read upper case may be the default however I can't get the text in a single column to display in upper case. The UPPER function requires a text string such as =UPPER(this text) which it insert in the cell where the UPPER function is used. I want to be able to type any text in a cell in lower case and have it change to upper case when I exit the cell. I am a new used of OpenOffice so I have a lot to learn about using Calc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't think you can get the change to be made automatically. Either hold down SHIFT key while you type or highlight the typed text in the column and Format > Change case > Upper case.
