Potential Bug: semi-colons converted to tildes

Post by scienceyankee »

I've been noticing an odd behavior that seems to be new with 4.14 (AOO414m5(Build:9788) - Rev. 1811857 2017-10-11 20:12)

With some functions, especially when there is a semi-colon followed by a minus sign, it replaces the semi-colon with a tilde.

Anybody else notice this behavior?

I noticed behaviour that appeared like this back in 4.1.2, but discovered that it was due to one of my CTRL keys being stuck.
The other time I found this happening, was after I forgot to change the keyboard from French back to English.
I'm not saying that either of these is the same as your problem, but these are the two instances where I encountered the same results that you are reporting.

The problem seems to be unique to OpenOffice, but I spend much more time typing there, and than anywhere else, but I've also been having problems with the keyboard on my laptop. I'm going to be taking it in for an upgrade and cleaning, so I'll see if that fixes it.

Check Tools > AutoCorrect options > Replace ..., to see if you have set AOO to do this.

Check AutoText (see Help) to see if you have set AOO to do this.
