[Solved] Sorting Chess Double Round Robin tournament results

Post by cool_thing76 »

Hi, I'm organizing a chess tournament where all plays all twice (Double Round Robin) in an OpenOffice Calc sheet as seen below. I would like to sort the table by the Points column however this will mess up the whole table. Not sure how to do it.

Data>Sort...
Tab: Options
Copy sort result to: <other place>

As a new poster you will find much useful information in the Calc Manual - sorting is covered in Chapter 2. When a pop-up window opens, click the Help button for extensive help on that function - it is often more comprehensive than the manual.

Using the sorts the Data>Sort... method work for that column only. But the rest of the tables results will be wrong. I'm trying to do a cross table like the one below and update it with results periodically.

Read the manual I pointed you to - it tells you exactly how to do it.

1. Highlight B3 to AQ19
2. Data > Sort ...
3. Sort criteria > Column E. Options > do not tick Range contains labels.

Thanks John. This works. The manual and the context help explains sorting without details of the proper selection. But you made it clear. Thanks again.
