I wasn't sure where to post an original thread, and it seems like my issue might be able to be answered on here. I'm trying to convert a pdf to an excel sheet using AdobeAcrobat reader, but some of the symbols aren't transferring properly. It's transforming some of the symbols into wingdings basically. "Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm doing some work for accounting and purchasing. They're a medical company so idk if anybody is medical systems pecific or has just experienced a similar issue in the accounting field. Thanks!

To post an original thread (aka new topic), from the Forum main page, select the sub-forum you want (in this case Calc), then use the New Topic button near the top on the left hand side of the page.
As to the problem you are having, first off PDF files are, generally, meant to be the equivalent of an electronic paper print-out. Ie: They aren't designed to be altered.
There is an extension that some people have reported works for importing a PDF file into Writer, but I'm not aware of one for going to Calc.
Search the extensions site at extensions.openoffice.org for the term PDF
The fact that you are getting characters that look like wingdings suggests to me that the proper font as embedded in the PDF file does not actually exist on your system.

Re: Convert PDF to Calc
When in doubt, post in the beginners' section of the forum. A moderator will then move it to a more appropriate section.
There seems to be a lot of software for converting PDFs to the Excel format (Google "convert pdf excel"), and this isn't an MS Office forum.
