Calc - Default pdf settings

Post by Gigglers »

I have a calc file consisting of multiple sheets. Some of those sheets are forms, populated by data from other sheets, which I need to print of in PDF format.
In order to print off just the one sheet I have to go File>>Export As PDF and then select "selection" and naming the pdf.

Is there anyway that I can configure the "Export To PDF" button so that it makes those selections automatically and I can just press that button to get my pdf created?

At the moment that only exports the whole document.

Thanks in advance

You can write (or record) a macro for this task.

Select the sheet in question.
menu:Format>Print Ranges>Edit... <Entire Sheet>

This will make this sheet the only printable one.

Thanks folks.

Zizi - I should have said I'm on a Mac and I've been advised that as a result a macro for this isn't possible - unless you know otherwise? This would be my preferred option but I am struggling with this - can anyone help?

Villeroy - that might be a work around I can use - although I have several different sheets in the workbook that I would need to be printed at different times, so it's not ideal.

Cheers

Why it not possible? The Macros can not work on Mac? (I never used Mac...)

The usual (BASIC inspired) Macro language of OpenOffice can certainly work on a mac. Start with
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Docume ... ASIC_Guide
and then proceed if necessary to the works of Andrew Pitonyak downloadable from

Zizi, I have no experience with Macros - just something someone said to me which I've accepted.
Rory - thanks for that. I'll check that out.
Many thanks

Simple solution is:
- install some pdf printer,
- set print ranges for sheets you need printed
- and print to pdf instead of export.

This way you'll have correct page count too.

Lino
Thanks for that - but can you clarify what you meant by "install some odd printer"?
There is a "print PDF" button but it is set by default to print the entire document and I can't see how to change that.
Are you talking about a 3rd party add-on?

Yes , the virtual PDF printers are third party softwares. They are installed as 'a printer', but they will not print onto a paper, they will create a pdf file output when you use them.
Virtual pdf pronter softwares: Pdf Creator; doPDF...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_v ... r_software

They will work as printers: based on the settings of the printers - for example the option "Print the selected sheets only".
(Tools - Options - Open/LibreOffice Calc - Print...)
