Love OpenOffice, its faster and more stable than MS Office. However, my wifey needs to save her stuff in Excel for her business. Is there any way to configure Excel to always save in MS Excel format without having to do a "Save As", or "Save" and then pick from the list?

Tools>Options>Load/Save>General, bottom area, Default file type lets you configure this kind of setting.
