I have a spreadsheet with 22 sheets but the function SHEETS() returns the erroneous value 24 (which screws up my macros). I can increment the result of SHEETS() by adding a link to another document so I have probably embedded accidentally a formula containing a link. However, if I delete the linking formula, the value of SHEETS() remains permanently at its higher value.
a) how do I find an incorrectly embedded link ( search the fomulas for file: etc does not work)
b) how do I get SHEETS() to return the correct value?
Thanks

Re: Sheets() and linked documents
Many thanks. Problem solved. It was hidden pages.
Deleting the linking formula obviously does not remove the hidden page even though the page is no longer referenced.
