Converting to Excel

Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.
What Operating System (version) are you using?
What is your question or comment? Windows xp newest version open office conversion of open office docs to windows excel not successful, says it's a server function. I'm about to give up on open office even tho I hat microsoft rip offs. But I don't want to get fired from my job.

How are you trying to convert the Openoffice documents to excel? Are you doing a save as? Are you trying to convert to the Office 2007 format xlsx?

No multi-posting please, I've deleted your other thread.

Honestly, if you need to be fully compatible with your work, just stick to MS Office. As MS Office file formats were closed until recently, some small glitches remain in the import/export filters. Moreover, not all the Excell features are implemented in OOo.
LO 6.4.6 on Xubuntu 20.04 and Windows 10.
