Using Windows XP wiht OO 2.4.1

I have a document that has columns B to G merged while A and H are unmerged. In Excel I have no problems copying and pasting several rows and columns of data further down the document but with Calc it will not let me do this. A box pops up telling me that "cell merge not possible if cells already merged!". See screen shot below:

I am trying to copy all of the cells from A8 to H11 into the A12 box (and downward). Wy can I not do this?

To answer your question why you cannot do this, the answer is simple: because the programmers did not allow such feature!

The only way I know is: 1) Un-merge the destination cells, 2) Select the range A8-H11 and copy it to A12.
