Found a repeatable bug in OpenOffice 4.0.0 Calc: Insert a page break in a spreadsheet - insert row above the page break - OO crashes.

Windows 8.

Welcome to the community forum!

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you're doing. I'm not sure how you insert a "page break" in a spreadsheet. Can you give us the exact steps, menus, keys, etc. that you've used?

I think he means Insert > Page break > Row break (insert a page break for printing)
then Insert new row just before the row break.

Cannot test with AOO, no bug in LibreOffice.

Ahh, right, Insert > Manual Break > Row Break

No crash here.

It could be something specific to the document; kukaesko, can you attach your document here so we could try it?

For me this happens with a new empty document as well as my old ones. Never happened before version 4. And you don't need to insert row just above the row break - anywhere above the break will do.

Also crashes with column breaks! Add break, then try to add a column anywhere to the left of the break.

I can't reproduce the issue.
Shut down the office including the "quick starter".
Go to %APPDATA%\OpenOffice\4\ and rename the user folder.
Start the office and try to reproduce the crash.

OK, I tried this with an old XP machine - no crash. Mine is Lenovo Thinkpad X301 Windows 8 64 bit, maybe someone with Windows 8 could try this out?

Clearing user data does not help.

I too have found this problem on a windows 7 machine, although it can be intermittent and I've yet to discover what set of circumstances causes it. I had OO3.4 on the same machine and no problem. I set up a macro so that a particular key combination would first save my work, then insert a row, having got fed up with losing everything each time this happens (the document recovery process being a pointless waste of time, it just recovers from the last autosave, that's the same as happens when I open the document again myself, only without the silly extra windows). The odd thing is, it still crashes at the initiation of the macro, before saving. It's like it knows it's going to add a row next and crashes anyway.

It is worth remembering that the shortcut to Save a file in most (all?) applications is Ctrl S. If one uses a computer regularly, this should become instinctive.

Same issue here. It appears that I cannot insert a row anywhere on any worksheet that has a manually inserted page (row) break in it.

Ha! Just installed 4.0.1 and the bug is still there. Not many comments here after more people confirmed the issue...

Running OO 4.0.1 with Win 8.1 Pro and bug is still there.

Interestingly, if OO only seems to crash if I am inserting a row near the top of the spreadsheet. Inserting rows toward the end of the sheet (100+ rows down), it seems to work just fine. :?

The problem is repeatable.

... on your system. So you are the one to fix it. A programmer can not fix a problem he doesn't see. If it is related to Win8 I'd think it would be time to say good bye to MS Windows and let all Windows users alone with their native office suite.

I have the same bug.
Trying to insert a column before a manual column break causes a crash.
The auto save then changes some of the formulas after the break and shifts cells in the formula to the right.

PS: the new update to 4.1.0 seems to have fixed this.
