Macros not working correct

Hello all!

Im new to this community and just started with OOo, 2.4.0, german version for Windows.
First, pls pardon my bad english.

Im a little bit in trouble with one Excel spreadsheet from one customer. After opening this sheet into OOo calc, the macro(s) are not working correct. Opening the sheet with Excel 2003 will bring up results to the "Material Nr.:" cell, when you entered a "Typenschlüssel" like 4we10.... to the cell.

Using calc, this function/macro does not work. Any hints in this case for me?

Excel macros do not (usually) work in Calc because Calc does not recognise Visual Basic, the language used for Excel macros. The macros need to be rewritten in a language, such as StarBasic, recognised by Calc.

There is some support for Visual Basic, I understand, in the Novell version of Open Office.
