Post by neilevans »

When amending an XL Spreadsheet in OpenOffice some numerals change and save OK - others when saved change to ### - any help with this appreciated

### means the column is not wide enough to display the result. Change the column width.

Does the number change to the string or is it that the formatted display changes to ###?

If you enter a field and the display width is larger than the width of the field then OOo displays a string of # characters to denote display overflow in the case of a numeric filed and a left truncated version with a little red arrow in the cat of an alphabetic one.

You can remove these by resizine the columns concerned. One trick here is to select a bunch of columns and double click on the top letter button or drag the boundary to resize.
Ubuntu 11.04-x64 + LibreOffice 3 and MS free except the boss's Notebook which runs XP + OOo 3.3.
