[Solved] Importing from Lotus 123

Post by Karl Griffith »

Is there a way to import files from Lotus 123? I can open them, but they lose all formatting. I have been using 123 for 20 years, and have a lot of template files I don't want to have to recreate.

Not sure if it can be done in OO, but you could use Lotus Symphony to do the 123 - odf conversion

You didn't say which version of Lotus 123 you're using.

Newer versions can export to Excel format. OpenOffice can import Excel files.

Depending on the complexity of your files, you may suffer some changes or they may make the trip unscathed.

It's worth trying.

OOo can directly import .wk4 files and .123 files with varying degrees of success. It just depends how far back your files go. If you have a modern version of 1-2-3 (97 onwards) then you should be able to convert to .xls and then open that in Calc.

If you have any macro's they will be lost, but the save as xls conversion is what I did and it worked fine for me.
