[Solved] Key shortcut to open drop-down list

Post by wrrr »

Hello,

the question will be short.

The problem.

I open new sheet, select A1 and then add some drop-down list by going through Data>Validate settings.
After selecting A1 the drop-down list open button appears on the right and I can click it and select a predefined value that would be then transfered to A1.

The question.

How do you open that list and select the value __using keyboard only__?

Is it even possible to do that? I can't find that information in the help system nor in google.

The list (combobox) should be as usable as an ordinary combobox, that is - fully operable using both mouse and keyboard, otherwise it's just as usable as putting any data in the sheet using the combination of mouse and onscreen keyboard.

Cheers,
Darius/Poland

The answer will be short, too. Try Command+D (Macintosh) or Ctrl+D (other platforms).

Hm, it doesn't seem to work .

BUT, I found the reason why. The shortcut to open a dropdown list isn't assigned to any key.
I did as such:

1. Go to menu->Tools->Customize
2. Choose Keyboard tab.
3. In the Function section choose on the left: Edit, and in the middle: List*
4. Then in Key shortcut section above choose like Ctrl+Shift+D
5. Click Modify button on the right and then OK
*) I use OOo with Polish interface so I'm not sure how it's called, it could be List, Dropdown list, Listbox, correct me if I'm wrong.

Voila. I can now toss the mouse away when using dropdown lists!
