Insert today's date

I recall that Exc*ll had a keyboard shortcut for inserting today's date in a cell but I can't find out how you do this in OO.

You can assign the macro SUB to a shortcout key.

Name: T [or any other letter]
Refers to: TODAY()
[Add]
[OK]
On the sheet you perform the following keystrokes:
=N [F9] [Enter] [Enter]

Thanks for all that. I best liked the idea of typing the day followed by / that I saw somewhere else. But they're all pretty clunky so I can't really call it solved. I wonder why such a simple thing is missing.
