During a power failure, I had a Calc document open. Now when I tried to reopen the file, it wants to open in in Writer. And it's garbled to say the least.
Is there a way to force it to open in Calc?
Calc opens up in Writer
Re: Calc opens up in Writer
The od? file is actually a zip container and in it a file called mimetype which tells OOo what viewer to use. It doesn't matter what the extension says, or which of Calc, writer etc you choose. If this is a application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text then the document will be opened in writer .
Ubuntu 11.04-x64 + LibreOffice 3 and MS free except the boss's Notebook which runs XP + OOo 3.3.
Re: Calc opens up in Writer
If OOo crashes (or the system crashes), you should get an offer to recover the working document when OOo starts the next time. Did you see that?
How are you trying to open the file? Did you try starting OOo, then using File > Open to load the file? If so, does it still open in Writer?
If File > Open still goes to Writer instead of Calc, then OOo can't determine correctly what type of document it is, and your file is toast (which is the gist of what Terry said ). Sorry.
