[Solved] The Best Rated Vacuum Cleaners: A Comprehensive Buyer’s Guide

Post by georgecorbett »

Having a good vacuum cleaner is an absolute must in any household. It doesn’t just keep your house free of dust and dirt, but a vacuum cleaner also protects you from allergies and other nasty things like airborne bacteria.

With this in mind, we at The King Live have decided to compile a list of the best vacuum cleaners on the market for your perusal.

Why You Should Trust TheKingLive

Before we get to the actual vacuum ratings, let’s do a small introduction in case you’re new around here.

At TheKingLive, we specialize in providing accurate consumer product information to our readers in the quickest, simplest, and bias-free manner. Every product you are about to see has already been tested and vetted carefully by the reviewers in our labs. It is not uncommon for a product to take days — some even weeks — to get through all of our rigorous testing protocols.

Thus, whichever product you end up choosing, you can place your order with confidence. It will be exactly as described in this guide.

Top Rated Vacuum Cleaners in 2024
  • Dyson V11 Outsize
If you simply want the best of the best and money is no object, the V11 Outsize from Dyson — currently one of the best vacuum cleaner brands out there — is an excellent choice.

At this moment in time, the V11 Outsize is one of the top 10 vacuum cleaners in terms of popularity on the charts.

The V11 Outsize comes with Dyson’s special Hyperdymium motor, which is capable of spinning at a blistering speed of 125,000 RPM. The high-speed motor creates very strong suction. Even at the lowest performance setting (“Eco Mode”), the V11 Outsize has virtually no problem picking up dust, dirt, and small debris from bare floors.

When it is switched to the highest performance setting (called “Boost”), the vacuum can take out stubborn debris from inside thick carpets. The brush roll in Boost mode is even powerful enough to untangle pet hair from carpet piling.

The V11 Outsize also comes with an “Auto Mode”. In this setting, the vacuum automatically adjusts its suction using surface-detecting sensors. So, for example, if it detects carpet pile, the vacuum will ramp up suction power on its own. When it detects bare floors, the V11 is going to ease out to save on battery power.

For this reason, the V11 Outsize has been reviewed by many customers to be “the most convenient vacuum” they have ever used. It basically does all the jobs for you.

The design of this highest rated vacuum is beautiful, sleek, and light. The whole vacuum weighs only 8 pounds. When converted to a handheld vacuum (by removing the front suction wand), its weight can be effectively halved down to about 4 or 5 pounds.

But the most noticeable characteristic that separates the V11 Outsize from other vacuums on the market is the LCD screen mounted at the back. It displays essential information like cleaning mode, battery life, and more to the user.

As far as we know, very few vacuums on the market offer this feature. This makes the V11 Outsize unique among competition.

The battery life of this vacuum is excellent. Depending on the cleaning mode, you can get anywhere from 15 minutes (in Boost Mode) to 60 minutes (in Eco or Auto Mode). Notably, the battery in this variant can be quickly replaced. There is an extra battery inside the box that you can swap out to extend the cleaning time of the vacuum.

The Dyson V11 Outsize has a larger dust cup compared to the smaller, standard V11 Torque Drive. It is capable of holding approximately 1.45 dry quarts of dirt and debris at any given time. Thus, you can vacuum for a few days straight without having to empty the vacuum.

Emptying is simple and fairly hygienic. There is a special dirt ejecting mechanism to make the process less messy.

Air filtering is done by a lifetime HEPA filter. The HEPA filter can take out a variety of airborne threats from microscopic dust to bacteria. If you have allergies, this vacuum has you covered.

The V11 Outsize comes with many accessories. There is the high-torque XL cleaning head, soft roller power head, mini power head, combination tool, upholstery tool/soft brush, hard dusting brush, and crevice tool.
  • Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360
At the other end of the price spectrum lies the Shark Navigator NV360. Unlike the Dyson V11 Outsize that’s loaded with the latest technology, this vacuum is focused on one thing and one thing only: cleaning performance. All without the frills attached.

Though the NV360 costs less than $200.00, the vacuum’s 1,200-watt motor can produce a surprising amount of suction. The majority of the best vacuum cleaner we found — both from professionals and customers alike — all gave the NV360’s suction high ratings.

Our performance tests showed the Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV360 to be particularly good at carpet cleaning. On both low-pile and high-pile carpets, the vacuum can suck up dust, debris of various sizes, as well as pet hair with no issues.

On the other hand, its performance on bare floors is merely acceptable. The vacuum was effective against dust and dirt. But its cleaning ability falters noticeably when it is faced off against large debris and pet hair.

Therefore, we recommend the NV360 only to those who have a lot of carpeting around the house. If you need a budget bare floors vacuum, you should consider the Shark Navigator NV356E S2, instead.

The NV360 was able to become one of the highest rated vacuums mostly because of its affordability and performance for the price. Its design is fairly outdated, bulky, and heavy (around 12.5 pounds total).

But this vacuum isn’t a total lost cause when it comes to design. It has Shark’s special Lift-Away design, which gives you the ability to convert the NV360 from an upright vacuum to a canister vacuum. By pressing a button, the main body of the vacuum can pop off and function independently. This canister is lighter (about 7 pounds) and mobile, so you can perform a wider range of cleaning tasks like stairs cleaning much more easily.

Unfortunately, the range is fairly limited with the short 25-foot power cord.

Dust cup size is acceptable, having a maximum capacity of 1.2 dry quarts. Emptying, while easy, isn’t the most hygienic. A lot of dust can be kicked up during the process, so if you’re sensitive or allergic, don a mask.

The filtering system is surprisingly good for a vacuum in this price range. In fact, the robustness of the NV360’s filtering system is well on par with some of the best vacuum cleaners in the world.

The NV360 comes with a HEPA filter as well as Shark’s Anti-Allergen Complete Seal technology. Both of them can clean especially tough contaminants like bacteria. The sealing technology prevents them from leaking out of the vacuum and staining the house.

The selection of accessories is quite limited with only three tools: the Pet Power Brush, dusting brush, and crevice tool. However, considering its price, this is acceptable.

Conclusion

We hope these two best rated vacuum cleaners have piqued your interest. Regardless of whichever you choose, we assure you that you will be satisfied by the purchase.

Until next time!

Confirm that the menu item View -> Sidebar is selected. If you still cannot see the Sidebar, look for a faint set of dots at the right edge of the OpenOffice window near the window's vertical center. Click on that and the Sidebar should appear.
