A temperature sensor probably has picked up noise. This result is put in Calc. Red curve. A screendump of a part of the curve is made.
I have drawn manually a "ideal" blue line over the red curve, of which I think it should have been the result without noise.
Does Calc has a function that can also approximately eliminate or reduce the noise from the data?
See attachement.

Re: Noisy data
You can plot two series, one with all of the points and one that averages over N points. I picked N = 5 in the attached file.

Re: Noisy data
Using a running average smooths a line too. Here you average the five (or different number) preceding values and plot their values.
The SLOPE function fits a straight line to data using linear regression and returns its slope.
You could do your own least squares analysis and find the curve which minimises the sum of the differences.
removing noise from plotted data spreadsheet gets lots of hits including Smoothing

Re: Noisy data
Thank you.
Exactly what I wished.
However after I had created a column with more than 3000 meanvalues I had to empty every 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th cell between two wanted mean values.
May be a macro can make the trick?

1. Select a group of 5 cells. one with the formula, the others emptyKees1 wrote:I had to empty every 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th cell between two wanted mean values.
2. Copy
3. Highlight the 3,000 cells. l-click in A10, scroll to A3,010, Shift+l-click in A3,010 selects A10 to A3,010
