Chart x-axis labeling only data points

Post by fischerr_1983 »

In a chart the default for the x-axis labels is even spacing. For example, in my chart the x-axis is dates, and it displays 01/30/20 then 04/30/20 then 07/30/20 then 10/30/20 -- that is quarterly dates (of course this automatically adjusts depending on how squished or expanded the chart is). I want the labels to be based on the dates of my data points, using the dates in my dates column -- e.g. 01/30/20 then 03/11/20 then 04/25/20 then 07/21/20. I have searched around for ways to do this, and don't see a method. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I do not know of a way to make irregular x axis labels on a scatter plot. You can add labels to the data points by double clicking on the graph to put it in edit mode, then selecting the menu Insert -> Data Labels. Click the Show Category box in that dialog. If your data points are sparse enough, that might be a viable solution.
