[Solved] Copying From Calc, And Pasting Into MS Word. How ?

Post by Robert11 »

Hello,

Just can't seem to figure out how to do this.

I have a spreadsheet I created in Calc. Using MacOS

I want to select a bunch of (contiguous) cells, and paste what I have
just selected, along with the cell dividing lines, into MS WORD document.

It won't allow me to do this, irrespective of everything I've tried.

How do I do it, please ?

Much thanks,
Bob

It might help if you told us some of the things you have tried.
That aside, are you wanting the results or are you wanting the formulas? I'm going to guess you want the results.
Do you want them in a table?
Why are you doing the spreadsheet in OpenOffice Calc and then putting the information into MS Word?
If you want to work in OpenOffice, then you should paste in Writer. If you need it in MS Word, then you might be smarter to use Excel.
The cell dividing lines are not part of any cell, and will not be copied/pasted unless you make your own borders in Calc. Even then I'm not sure how they would appear when pasted.
Not having a copy of MS Word, I can't verify this, but using Ctrl+C (or the Mac equivalent) to copy, then using Ctrl+Shift+V (or the Mac equivalent) should give you a dialog box where you can select what it is you are wanting to paste.

Open both files with either OpenOffice or with MS Office.

If you open both documents with OpenOffice, copy the cells and do a menu:Edit>Paste-Special (Ctrl+Shift+V). Choose HTML as target format. This gives a normal text table which should be OK when saved as doc.
Why do you save doc format anyway?
