Spreadsheet crashed and won't recover

Post by PEZASN »

Hello,

I was using OpenOffice 4.1.6 (on Windows 10 Home) and was working on a spreadsheet.

I was saving the file as xls. The file crashed and OpenOffice cannot open, or recover it.

I am attaching the spreadsheet. Any ideas how/if I could recover this?

There appears to be nothing salvageable in that file. You might try [Tutorial] How to find and un-delete AOO temporary files - maybe you can recover something that way. In future save your documents in Open Document format, not MS formats. Only save to foreign formats if you absolutely have to give someone a foreign format.

Seeing you are using Windows, the advice in the tutorial about Previous Versions might be useful.

May I also suggest you consider some kind of backup strategy. For Calc and Writer, the Time stamped backup extension is useful.
