Importing png files to the spreadsheet

Post by templii »

I have been successfully adding png picture files to my spreadsheet from webpages by this method:
Right click on the image
Save image as
Select show in folder
Drag the image from the folder into the spreadsheet
I have just tried to add an image within a series of similar images and when I try to drag it into the spreadsheet I am confronted with the ASCII Filter Options box

Can this be explained and resolved please?

Do not drag pictures into a document. Use the regular method from the Menu.

Insert - Image...

And always optimize the pictures before you embed them into a document file. Decrease the color depth, resize, resample the image to the optimal values.

Otherwise a Calc spreadsheet document is not the best way for create a "photoalbum".

The ASCII filter message usually indicates that OpenOffice does not understand the file format. If these are images stored on your computer, are they corrupt?

An image from the web often include additional content. See the item about web images in [Tutorial] Some useful hints on using images.

It is quite OK to drag an image file from your PC into a program.
