Apply a filter, delete rows, release filter.

its a few thousand and theyre urls so theres probably like a 100 .gov urls that i need to filter out and another 200 .edu domains

if i go with filter and replace it only replaces the .gov so its not really helpful

Calc is not a database where you can delete matching records out of millions records with a most simple statement like: DELETE FROM "Table" WHERE "URL" LIKE '*.gov'
In a CALCulation software that is mis--used as a database it goes like this:
1. Filter your list to show matching records only.
2. Select the cell range
3. Delete the entire rows
4. Release the filter.

if i go with filter and replace

That is "FIND and Replace"...

it only replaces the .gov so its not really helpful

Search the "words" that contain the string ".gov". use the Regular expression feature.
Note: the dot "." _is_ a regular expression! You must enter it into the search window by usage the \ prefix.

Find and replace will clear contents out of the matching cells. Iow, the cells will be updated.
You asked for deletion of cells.
