It's impossible to list all of the differences between Open Office Calc (what you called Spreadsheet) and Google Sheets.
On a basic spreadsheet usability, there is little to no difference. Eg: In Calc =A1+B1 will add the numbers that are in those cells. In Google Sheets it's exactly the same.
Calc and Google sheets may (and probably do) have different functions or the same function but under different names or needing the parameters specified differently.
Google Sheets does have the ability to save in the Open Document Format (.ods extension for spreadsheets), so I suspect many of the functions are either identical or are convertible via the Save process.

OpenOffice runs on your personal computer and stores your personal data on your personal computer. Google is part of the brave new world.
