Automatic background change in perpetual calendar

Postby Ron Hargrove » Fri Jan 10, 2020 2:56 pm

First of all, I have no training in spreadsheets but am just figuring this out as I go.

I am trying to create a perpetual quarterly date planner in Calc. Each date has three cells: Day number, day of week, and a blank cell for either inserting data or writing into on the printed sheet. The day of week outputs the day of the week using the format code "DDD". What I would like to do is to automatically shade all 3 cells with a light gray background if the DDD format code returns "Sat" or "Sun" but otherwise leaves the cells unshaded. It isn't that hard to manually shade the cells, but it would be nice if the spreadsheet would do it automatically moving forward.

Is there a simple way to accomplish this?

Use Conditional formatting with the formula set to weekday()>5

or at least I think that's the number. Check the help file as I can't right now
