Find several cells with same text but can't isolate them

first. i am a 69 year old novice.
i have made a generic checkbook for my yearly expenditures for each month.
what i have been trying to do is find, in each month, the cells that have the same identifications
then isolate them from the other cells so it will be simpler to copy and paste to another sheet.
any help will be appreciated - jerry

i have attached my checkbook entries for each month of 2019.
each month there will be, for instance, lowes, ky farm burea, glen etc....
the data I want to extract from each row are the cells labeled date, check no, amount and who check was written to .
for the 12 months I would like to find lowes and highlight those while hiding the remaining info until I cut and paste the highlighted info. once cut and paste has removed the info then turn all other info back on and continue repeating the process until all lines are gone.

open office 4.1.1 in Windows 10.

Welcome to the forum!

This should be a task for filtering, in specific for the tool 'Autofilter', but...

I cannot find a column to reasonably apply a filter to. Should column G of the first sheet contain what you call "identifications"? If so:
-1- A column intended to be used this way must contain the appropriate "identifications" for every row to be evaluated.
-2- A column intended to be used this way must NOT contain anything else.
-3- The entries to be used as "identifications" need to be assured to be from a "stock" of allowed values. No similarities like "walmart" similar to walmartt" (See cell G1392.) can be accepted.

Generally your sheets seem not to be designed with a clear and reasonable structure in mind. You would need to rework them insofar.

(What about 'CurrentChecks'.BF2824? What about cell BF2019 same sheet? Where are the months you talked of accessible as data?)

Thanks for the reply.

i now have attached the correct file.
i am attempting to use this sheet to aide in preparing my 2020 budget by extracting data from the Check Identification
column.
this is what i am doing.
in my example i know i have written several checks to glen. for each month i find each check written to him and then select the row his data is in. once this row is selected i cut and paste it to the right of the original data. then i scroll down to the next check written to glen and use the same procedure described above until i cut and paste each check entry for the year. i know there must be a simpler way to isolate these checks to glen and cut a nd paste all with one selection.

i am working on a more detailed expense sheet for 2020.

as you can see what i want may be simple for many but is a challenge for me. i have parkinson's disease and it makes typing slow and difficult.

i will be grateful for any help or suggestions.

I think you must make a clean nice tabel and forget what you want do.
When you have a clean nice table then you can analyze your data real easy.
It is not a problem when in your table are data of several years. Maybe you have to insert a column but that is your problem

Your office program does have several tools for analyzing your data the best is maybe: pivottable.
In the help file there is a explanation and when you search this forum you can find also examples and explanations.

I clean up a little your table but I do understand it complete.

What you have to do is learning and not to much typing.

Sorry. You ignored my comments above. I still cannot find data I could accept as the "identifications" you mentioned.
You won't get anywhere this way.

I also inserted some comments into the reworked document. See attachment.

Jerry,

welcome to the Forum.

As LUPP pointed out, your sheet is not really designed for this.

I took the liberty to adjust the sheet a bit so you can use it to sort to your needs (I hope :P )

In the attached sheet on tab 2019 you can filter with the little triangle next to NAME2 (or, if you know the ID, the little triangle next to ID)
Click the little triangle and a list will open. This will show you the names from your data.
Pick one and you will see the payments to that person.

Once ready, click the triangle again and choose ALL, or the next name or ID

Please check the list in N1 to M143 to check if I made the right assumptions as to the names I gave an ID to.
For instance: M8 to M11 mention a Cindy I gave the ID ID_0005 to. If that are different persons you should change their ID
to a new one. If it Is just one person, you should use only one name for her and not four. You then should change the names in your data until you have just the one Cindy left and then you could remove the 3 wrong Cindys from the list.
