[Solved] OpenOffice copying info onto multiple pages

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem on multiple computers as following:

After a spreadsheet has been open on Calc for some time, it starts exhibiting the following behavior:

1. Copy some text (good)
2. Paste text in a different location on that page (good)
3. Find that the program has copied information onto a separate page, potentially overwriting the data already present (not good)

It has happened with .ods and .xls files. It has only started happening recently and I'd prefer not to have to switch platforms to keep records, but large chunks of data are being destroyed and I can't have that.

I'm including a sample file to help give an idea of the issue, though the actual file is much larger and contains copyrighted information.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the Forums.
The situation you have described is usually due to the Ctrl key being depressed/stuck when selecting another page for the pasting process.
This makes it a keyboard problem, not a software one.

If you claim that this is a bug, provide the exact steps needed to reproduce the problem using your attachment.

If one has accidentally selected multiple sheets, which you seem to be calling "pages", a Paste operation changes all of them. This is normal operation for the program. One can select/unselect sheets on their sheet tab by using ⌘+click on a Mac, Ctrl+click on other platforms.

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

That was it, user error, thank you. Turns out I was using an incorrect shortcut to switch between sheets, by hitting Ctrl-Shift-PgUp/Dn instead of just Ctrl-PgUp/Dn.

Just as a side note, I think having the sheets light up in blue like when selecting multiple cells (rather than white vs. off-white) would help clarify things visually.

Thank you both for your time!
