I could, at one time see formulas in cells.

Where you want to see the formula? In the actual cell, or in the formula editor box?

1.: In the Formula edit box;

Select a cell. The formula box will show the formula of the selected cell. If the Formula box is not visible, then you can customize the user interface.

2.: In the cell;

Double click on the cell. The cell will show the formula instead of the value. You can edit the formula in the cell.

3.: You can adjust the setting:

Tools - Options - Open/LibreOffice Calc - View - Display - Formulae.

The Calc will show the formulas in the cells permanently (instead of the referenced/calculated values).
