Use columns. See
[Tutorial] Columns in Writer: an introduction
for information on use of columns in Writer.

See the attached file for a sample.

Thanks for the reply
I followed the advice and inserted two columns, the table i already had is in the first column but how do I get to place the cursor in the second column?
At the moment it seems locked in the first column.

Place cursor below first table and /Insert /Manual Break : Column Break.

As you may have a similar situation again, and not need table to extend to the fill height of the page, place the tables in an OO Section, which contains Columns.

The other way to do this is to use a table of width and cells sufficient to contain the contents of the two tables - you will have to insert the information (not the tables) into the new table. Use a column in the centre with no row borders to make an apparent break between the two sets of information.
