[Solved] swriter.exe deleted by antivirus, help?

Post by Oriboros »

Hi all, my antivirus picked up swriter.exe as a virus and deleted it. Since restarting my computer, it's not in the virus vault and OpenOffice won't run without it (obviously). Do I need to do a full reinstall or is there a way to just get that back. Sorry I'm not super tech savvy, be gentle with me.

If you still have the folder with the installation files for OpenOffice, you can go in there and double click on the file setup.exe. After a couple of steps through the dialogs, you will reach a place where you can choose to Repair your installation. Try that.

There must be a way to tell your antivirus that a certain program is safe. But may be your antivirus is right! Where did you download your copy of OpenOffice? May be it is not OpenOffice.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

If version 4.1.3 was recently downloaded and installed, then it probably didn't come from the official OpenOffice download site. The current version is 4.1.6.

The only official download site is http://www.openoffice.org/download/ - which is linked from the bottom of forum pages under Get OpenOffice

Thanks all, I updated it to 4.1.6 and that fixed everything!
