[Solved] Importing MS Word processor files

Post by deakins47 »

I have several hundred files from microsoft word and open Office writer which I want to import to a single document. Is there an easier way than copy and paste? Any and all suggestions welcome.

What's your target? ODT file or PDF file?

You can insert entire files via menu Insert > File...
Be aware that some content won't be pasted like headlines, if the page styles have got the same names (better insert into a section).

Easier could be to generate a PDF file after "printing" it on a PDF printer (only drag and drop of several files onto specified printer) and connecting when creating the PDF file.

And again: What's the main purpose of your proceeding?

A Master Document is one possibility
Chapter 13 of the Writer Guide describes how to use Master Documents.

Insert > File ...

Google batch print to batch print multiple files. If you create PDF files PDFSAM can merge PDF files.
LO 6.4.4.2, Windows 10 Home 64 bit

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
