Open Office not responding

My Open Office 3.1 has suddenly stopped working
I cannot open any previous documents
I cannot open a new document

My question is - if I re-load Open Office, will all my previous documents load?
I have tons of online stories stored on OO

Please install a newer version of the AOO or LO. Nobody will fix the bugs of the that very old verion.

If OpenOffice, of any version, has a crash, whether of OpenOffice or of Windows, some components may be left over; these may prevent OpenOffice starting up.

Start TaskManager (Ctrl Shift Esc) and kill all "soffice" processes shown on TM's tabs. Note the initial "s" in "soffice". Once these are killed (some may have been left over after your crash) OpenOffice should be able to be installed.

except version 4.1.5 crashes on each load. It's not even usable.

Check that your Windows 10 is fully updated. Then remove OO, also remove the OO User Profile, reboot computer and make a fresh download only from http://www.openoffice.org/download/ and install.

Your experience is not typical - OO 4.1.5 works "out of the box" for the vast majorirty of users.
