Keeping MS Word formatting

Postby Joao Ribeiro » Tue Feb 05, 2019 6:23 pm

Hi folks,

I ma quite new to OO. I have some documents created in Microsoft word and I am opening them in OO but I cannot keep the formatting I had set in Word. Is there a work around?

Formatting will change between differing applications and computers, also because of differing fonts. One should use the one application and computer for detailed formatting.
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.6 on Xubuntu 18.04.2 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP

See [Tutorial] Differences between Writer and MS Word files for the reasons why and for why you should always work in and save files as .odt.
AOO 4.1.6, Windows 7 Home 64 bit

See the Writer Manual, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and the Writer guide.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
