RE: Possible to have common data-table, sync across LO ?

Post by sparxz »

Is it possible to have common a data table, to have synchronized across Modules of LibreOffice.

Eg I am writing a Presentation in Presenter, and I am writing a separate detailed document, based on a Table in the Slides.
It would make things a lot easier if I could make one table instead of two, as Copy and past from Presenter to Writer,
does not work well, either copy past table, or even manually each cell.

I thought Base, give a back end to store data for purposes like this ?

Thanks.

You can open the data source window in Impress. If the command is not availlable, you can add it via Tools>Customize.
The data source window shows registered databases with their tables and queries. You can drag any table's or querie's icon from the data source window into a text document, spreadsheet, drawing or presentation. This will insert a copy of data or some kind of link depending on the type of document.
You may also open the respective Base document and copy/paste the icon of a table or query from the Base document window.
There is no way to link the data tables in Impress. They always contain copied snapshots. However, presentations can have input forms as in viewtopic.php?t=78650&p=360532#p360532

Base can create a database with the actual database embedded in the Base document but this is not what most people need.
A Base document does not contain any data if it is connected to some kind of true database or pseudo-database (text files, dBase files, spreadsheet).

File>New>Database...
Connect to existing database
Type: whatever you have
[X] register database (normally yes)
Save database
Add meaningful queries
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.
