[Solved] Creating a default page

As a recent new user I have found trouble when starting a new document in writer.
I would like all my documents to have a footer section where the path and filename is displayed.
By going through Insert > Footer and Insert Fields I find that i can set up what I need when I start each new document but can anyone point me to where I can find the method where that footer information is automatically created whenever I start a new document. I guess I'm looking for some kind of default template but I don't seem to know where to start.

Thanks for the quick reply Hagar
Read the tutorial and sorted the problem using the Tutorial.
Need to browse those tutorials more carefully next time.
