Table of Content for Kindle

Post by Casino Hunk »

I'm brand new here so forgive me if this has been posted before but-

I am trying to upload my book (poetry) to Amazon for Kindle and I need to make an interactive Table of Contents, I wrote the book in Open Office 4.

Every piece of advice has not worked so far, can someone who has successfully done this please tell me how to do it? I need to be able to click on the title in the table of contents and have it go directly to that poem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

See [Solved] Make Table of Contents hyperlink?.
If no luck, please upload a sample file showing what you've tried to do.

Please add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Ok, I will check this out. I forgot to mention in my original post- I have all the poems hyperlinked to their corresponding titles in the ToC right now because a tutorial I watched said that that would work, it did not. Do I have to unlink them now or does it matter? Thanks for your help!

I guess that you'll end up deleting your first ToC and replace it by the new automatic one.

Do I start at tools, outline or the index option. To be honest I am not understanding your instructions with the E, LS, hyperlink thing either.

Basically, you've to use Heading (paragraph) styles for the poems titles, then insert a ToC, making sure that the heading styles are set in the Tools>Outline numbering dialog (should be by default).
Then in the structure line, you've to add the tags LS and LE by clicking the Hyperlinks button once the cursor is in the desired place in the structure line (the white spots).

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the *EDIT button if your issue has been fixed.

Which software do you use to convert an office document into a Kindl book?
