Fatal Error SEH Exception: ACCESS VIOLATION

Post by Ucha Nekome »

I'm going to try to remain calm but I'm pretty mad right now. My computer crashed a day ago and ever since then Open Office won't open my files. I'm a writer, I can't let this go on for too long, I need this fixed ASAP. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, I've tried using old versions of the program. I've tried that memory thing other forums suggested. NOTHING WORKS! I need help.

Try this: Start TaskManager (ctrl shift Esc) and kill any soffice processes shown on TM's tabs. Note "soffice", with an initial "s".

1. Start OpenOffice. Does it start OK?

2. Go File > Open. Navigate to a folder containing your files (or download test.odt to your desktop). Does a file open?

3. Search the forum with seh exception

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
