Inserted Envelope: All Pages Become Same Size as Envelope

Hello All,
I wrote a two-page letter and all went perfectly. I added an envelope with return and mailing addresses and all went perfectly, it seemed. I saved the letter and because I was writing a similar letter to someone else, I "Saved As" and changed the "TO" address and a few small things and saved with a different name (created two similar letters to two different people with two different filenames). I shut down the PC.

The next day, I opened the documents and every page of the documents had changed to the size of the envelope and it looks like some of the letter was lost (not sure yet). What did I do wrong and how can I get things straightened out again? Please help!

Welcome to the forum.

Insert a page break after the envelope to set the page format to what you want for the letter, probably Default. Insert > Manual break ...

Press F1 to access the Help screen and search for envelope. Or see Chapter 5 - Printing, Exporting, Faxing and E-Mailing where printing envelopes is covered.

When a pop-up window opens, click the Help button for extensive help on that function - it is often more comprehensive than the manual.

Showing that a problem has been solved helps others searching so, if your problem is now solved, please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.

Thank you for your reply and helpful information. Since I posted this question and after much trial and error on my own, I noticed that I had much better luck saving the document in the default format than in, let's say, the .DOC format. I guess I have little or no problem saving all future files containing envelopes in the native Writer format. I just thought that it would work to save in the other popular formats to which I am accustomed.

I will copy and refer to the information you sent me in reply and plan on saving most documents in the native file format in the future. Thanks again for your helpful info and most of all, thanks for providing this Open Office suite! It is nice to be able to break the bonds from certain other software!
