/Tools /Sort (information under Sorting in the Help file) will do the task, but I don't know of any way to keep the file in alphabetic order automatically after insertions.

Writer? Calc? Base?
OpenOffice can connect a database document to a spreadsheet and a simple query in that database produces any set of rows and columns in any order of rows and columns.
LibreOffice can also connect a database document to the text tables in a Writer document.
