Newbie here:
As in MS, all documents opened are withing the one window, open docs are listed under window (like OO) but there is only one window open. How do I duplicate that with OO?
Thanks.

Multiple Docs in One Window?
OpenOffice 4 / Windows /
Re: Multiple Docs in One Window?
You can't, because of the multi-platform code of OO. You can open multiple instances of OO. Superimpose the windows, and switch between them by /Window.

Re: Multiple Docs in One Window?
The windows are normal application windows just like the windows of any other application.
The Window menu shows all windows. There is one document per window but you can have more than one window per document via menu:Window>New Window.
Each document window can have several types of docked or undocked (floating) sub-windows for tools, mainly the navigator (F5) and the stylist (F11).
When there is only one document loaded, its window has a grey x-button below the window's close button. The grey button closes the last document but keeps the application window with the start center.
This office suite is one program for all types of documents text, spreadsheet, presentation etc. There is no separate Writer application. The task manager shows one soffice.exe when the office is running regardless of the types of loaded documents.
