Hi Guys,
I save my file as word/97/2000/xp. Unfortunately this morning I cannot open the file, get the error this is not a winword 97 file. It is the same laptop and the same version of open office. I know I have read posts on this issue but they looked like they were trying to open in a different application. I would really like to not to have to type it all again, is there any way I can recover the file even if the formatting is not identical?

I have sent you a PM with an email address to which you can send the file so that I can see what may be saved from it

Re: [Solved] This is not Winword 97 file
I was able to open the .doc file with AbiWord and Save from that in .odt format. I have suggested that, if the recipient does not need to edit the file, better to /File /Export as PDF and send a PDF file instead.
I have not time (or inclination) to investigate why the file was not identified correctly as a Winword 97 etc file.
