[Solved] Configure shortcut key for specified text
Can someone please tell me how to generate shortcut keys on OOWrite; for example a key (something like Ctrl+a) that will have OOWrite type out the word "Arlene"? FWIW, I am using a desktop PC with W10. Thanks. .......wdc

Re: Shortcut keys
AutoText might be the tool that suits your purpose.
With a Writer document open, press F1 for offline help, and search Autotext for more detail.

- AutoCorrect: it will change a typed-in "code" to the predefined text/characters at the actual position.
- Macros: By usage the macros you can to do what you ever want.

Re: [Solved] Shortcut keys
Thank you all for your responses and suggestions. I am afraid, however, that your tips and the Help screens I see are just too concise for me, and I need further hand-holding to "get" the process.
Would someone kindly show this 90+ er how to generate a shortcut key (say Ctrl+A) that would cause the word "Arlene" to be inserted into a OOW document? What steps do I follow to create the shortcut?
After I create it, do I simply hit the Ctrl+a keys to execute it?
Many thanks for your patience. .... wdc
