Downloading and using decorative borders.

Post by zcobbs »

OpenOffice is quite limited in border assortment. I would like to be able to download and use borders found online but I don't know the process through OpenOffice. I was recently asked to create a wedding program but haven't been successful in adding a decorative/fancy border.

There are two links there that may also be of use, including a sample decorative border in OO Draw.

There are free or commercial clipart and ornament downloading webpages.
Use the vectorgraphic image types for the best quality.

Hi,

have a look on
http://www.ooowiki.de/DrawSpielereien.html
"http://www.ooowiki.de/DrawSpielereien(2 ... ahmen.html" - copy entire address without quotation marks.

You may find this ZIPped file: "http://www.ooowiki.de/attachments/DrawS ... Rahmen.zip" - copy entire address without quotation marks - download - unzip it in a folder.
You will find the template RahmenSeitenvorlagen.ott
and 3 files which you can insert in the gallery folder of your office user profile or in the program folder. Only search for the given suffixes sdg, sdv and thm. After inserting you have got a new gallery theme "SchmuckRahmen" (=DecorativeBorders).
All should work without knowledge of German language IMHO.

In addition to Zizi's advice I recommend http://www.openclipart.org as your first source of vector based drawings. Search for "borders" and similar terms; English terms are supposed to be used.

Good luck!
